Where does the name come from?
Physics teaches us: E=mc² — energy and matter are the same thing in different forms. EATS continues that chain all the way into practical relief work. Energy becomes matter. Matter becomes information about what is actually needed, right now. And information becomes a system that gets the help delivered — or doesn’t, if the system is built wrong. Systems are their own animal entirely: that’s where a good intention either works, or falls apart.
We operate on lean principles
Lean means one thing: remove everything that doesn’t create value. We don’t build administration, and we don’t build middle layers. Every step that isn’t needed gets cut — what’s left is the part of the money that actually reaches the person who needs it, not the part that gets spent along the way.
Purpose
The association’s official purpose is to help citizens of different countries — especially disadvantaged groups, or people suffering from disasters, wars, and other difficult circumstances — gain access to energy, material, and information resources. In practice, this can mean supporting access to electricity or other energy, supporting access to materials and waste management, and supporting access to information and information systems.
What we’re doing right now
We are currently helping residents of Nepal’s flood-affected areas. Our local team assesses the need directly on the ground, sources supplies from the nearest sensible location — Kathmandu, Bangkok, or Finland when necessary — and delivers the aid in person.
